Is Texting Ruining English

texting-class1

In a way txting is ruining our English Language, some people are txting so mch that it is starting to effect their writing and spelling.  Like in essays people are putting u instead of you and 2day instead of today and so many ppl are using the txting lingo that they are putting it in their writing and not even noticing and they are getting bad grades for it. So the English language is being ruined by this txting age and u all know some1 who uses this lingo all the time. It is stupid because u will get a txt and it will have 2day, lol, and things like that and I will be like IDK what that means, and then they will reply btw it means today and laugh out loud. Then they will say brb can u just talk right. And in school they will put for answers IDK, or on the test they will write a narrative and use things like u brb ttyl 2day. What happened to the world and y can’t u just typ the right way?

Time

3207504967_9604f7624f_m

Time has been a wonder to man since the dawn of time, trying to figure out if we can travel through it, speed it up, or slow it down, or freeze time.  But that is physically impossible because nothing can travel near or faster than the speed of light only light itself can do that. Also how we spend our time, like when it is time to get up and it is 6:45am and then you put your head down and it feels like 5 minutes and you look up and it is 7:45 am. Then when you are at school and you put your head down at 1:30pm and it feels like 5 minutes has gone by and you look up and it is 1:31pm. It will always be a wonder to man and I don’t think man will be able to figure time out until the end of time so it will always be a mystery to man and it will never be figured out. So it is just best to live while you still have time left.

The Class of 2017

The class of 2017 are freshman at Hugo, Colorado. They are proud and sometimes they don’t get along but some day they will make up and become friends again. There are 6 of us left that grew up with each other and we have our ups and downs but we all know what each other has been through. Being Freshmen, it is kinda sad to know in 3 years that the 6 of us will split up and go our own separate ways and maybe won’t see each other untill our 10 or 20 year reunion. The 6 of us have gone through so much together, like losing family, saying goodbye to our best friends, or all kinds of other things. I will be sad to say goodbye to the best bunch of teens I will or would ever meet, because when I get out to the real world no one will ever know what I have been through like those 5. I will miss you guys when we leave this little town we call home. Even though we say we hate this school sometimes, it will always be apart of us.

Game review of Touhou: Imperishible Night

forgivness honest mans death

a screenshot of the spellcard “Forgiveness Honest Mans Death”

This game is the 8th game in the Touhou series and quite frankly while it is one of the easier games in the series the extra boss is one of the hardest, mainly because of the “spellcard” shown in the picture along with other spellcards that the extra boss uses.  The gameplay is as hard as ever considering first time players will be absolutely swarmed if they accidentally click on “Lunatic” mode.  Lets just say that was the mistake I made when I first played “Embodiment of Scarlet Devil” which was the 6th game in the series and I could barely make it past the first level without having to use a continue.  This series plays and looks like an old top-down shooter or as this series is classified along with other games, it will be classified as a “danmaku” game.  The creator of this series is just one guy and he designs the graphics, the music, the gameplay, and even the characters, he commonly goes by the pseudonym “ZUN”.  But he is still making games in fact the most recent game is Double Dealing Character” which is the 14th game in the series. But anyways the games are fun if you know what to do and have the reflexes of a cheetah.  There are several things that tie each game together with gameplay and storyline.  The gameplay part is that there are “spellcards” that bosses use, bombs the controllable characters use, the fact that there are 6 bosses and an extra boss if you beat the game on normal and above without using a continue. Then there is the sheer difficulty spike from easy to normal and that is just crazy to keep up with. The storyline part is that the games reference each other and have several characters appear in different games than the ones they were introduced in.

The story in each game is always some incident caused by a “yokai” or other powerful being like in the 10th game Mountain of Faith” where a god wanted to collect more followers for her shrine.  But this games incident is caused by a “lunarian” (who is immortal in the truest sense, more on this later) who wanted to hide from the rest of her race with her assistant, so her assistant causes the moon to never become full by causing the moon to go to a new moon when there is ever a full moon.  So this causes panic in the human village so the local shrine maiden is asked to solve this mystery.  Then her “friend” decides to follow along with and then other yokai the shrine maiden defeated pop up and assist the shrine maiden when the game starts.  You each get a little bit of the story with each boss you defeat untill you get to the 5th and 6th boss where you finally get the true story.  apparently the one that caused this has taken some medicine called the “Hourai elixir” and it consists of a liquid. From what the wiki says if one drink is taken the person will never age, the second drink will render the person immune from any disease, while the third drink causes the person to be immortal to the truest sense.  But it also has this side effect of having the user be as susceptible to pain as before and injuries can still be caused but the injuries can be healed at an increased pace. So from what I can figure out if the person who took the elixir got cut in half the person will regenerate.  And from what the wiki said only four people have taken this elixir and the ingredients to making the elixir are known only to the maker.  So if you are a klutz this is extremely useful if you end up getting a horrible cut, you can get it healed in a matter of hours instead of weeks or months.  Although the game does say any injuries suffered before the elixir has been taken will still remain with the person.  When you do finally defeat the 6th boss (hopefully on normal or above without using a continue) you unlock the extra stage where you find the 3rd person who took the elixir and then you fight her.

This game while it is one of the easier games in the series (only being beaten in easiness by “Great Fairy Wars” which is like 12.8 it’s not really part of the storyline but it continues some of the storyline featured in earlier games) it features a decent storyline with good music.  On every stage there are two music tracks, one for the main stage and one for the boss.  The amount of characters you can use was an increase from other games but it is only used in just this game.  After that it is just reset to using two or three characters.  The music seems to fit each character with either being fast paced or calm and intense at the same time.  The graphics are somewhat minimal but why make extremely good graphics when they will just be blocked out by all the “bullets” on the screen.  As seen in the photo with the spell card shown.  I mean sure the graphics get better in later games but they still get harder as you continue throughout the game.  The only game that I have seen that has thoroughly frustrated me before the final boss was the 12th game “Unidentified Fantastic Object” but that is for another review sometime later.  So far I have enjoy every one of these games and I still hope that more shall be made.  The only thing I have against this series is the sheer difficulty spike from easy to normal.  Lets say if you have memorized all the patterns for the spellcards in easy mode than when you play normal mode you have no idea what to do because it just cranks the difficulty up.  The overall score I would give this game is 8.6/10.  This is mainly because of the difficulty spike but otherwise it is a great game.  After this review it will be the last one for the school year and I will be making a new blog to put reviews on it for the summer.  Although not in a weekly interval so I guess see ya until I put a new review on the blog.

Root Beer!

The origin is referred to small beers that are local beverages. Some contained alcohol and some did not. Root beer was made during colonial times in America from herbs, roots, and barks. There are four different types of beers they used. They were birch beer, sarsparilla beer, ginger beer, and root beer. The first bottle of Root Beer was made by the Hires family in 1893, even though Root Beer can be traced way back into history. Another type or brand of root beer is A & W Root Beer. It was founded by Roy Allen, who was the man who started marketing Root Beer in 1919. He was partnered with Frank Wright and that’s how A&W gets its name. It is the number one selling Root Beer in the world. The original recipe for Root Beer was made by Native Americans and now there are over 100 recipes.

Dog Saves Military Vet by Calling 911

Terry McGlade was a United States marine says his dog, Major is a hero. He trained his dog to sense if McGlade was going to have a seizure so if Major had to he could call 911. One day Major sensed that there was going to be an incident about to happen and soon enough McGlade collapsed to the floor and Major got the phone and started dialing 911. When he pressed the buttons to call 911 the dispatcher said he didn’t hear any bark, but only the sound of a confused man and they knew something was suspicious going on. Major knew someone was going to come help so he waited outside. When the medics and police came he lead them into the house where McGlade was laying. When McGlade recovered he said he was proud that he taught his dog how to call for help. Major helped save a life that day.

The Plains Indians

The Plains Native Americans…

The plains culture was varied from the Mississippi river all the way to the Rocky Mountains.  The tribes that lived here, and some still do, are the:

Arapaho

Blackfoot

Comanche

Cheyenne

Crow

Kiowa

Pawnee

Plains Apache

Sioux

Those are the major tribes of Native Americans that lived on the plains of North America. Many of the tribes of the Great Plains didn’t have a certain or stable home, they followed the buffalo or their major food source which was usually the buffalo. The whites, or as the natives would call them, Wasitchu’s witch, killed off the buffalo for target practice or to sell their tongues, hide, teeth, and horns and left the meat and everything else left of the buffalo to rot. The Plains Native Americans were very very skilled in hunting. The reason for that was because they had no cover or very little cover.  If they were hunting on horses they would use buffalo hide and put it over the horse and themselves to make the horse look like a buffalo so they could get closer. If they were hunting on the ground they would use coyotes, wolves, or maybe a deer or elk depending on what they had to cover themselves up with, then get closer and use bows to shoot them because they barely made a sound.

Being A Boy Scout

Boy Scout

To me, being a Boy Scout means a lot, it means I have to do my best to live by the Scout Law and the Scout Oath. The Scout Law is, “A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.” Then the Scout Oath is “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”  Now that I am an Eagle Scout I really have to do my best to live by these codes of the Boy Scouts. Everyday I try to live by the Motto and Slogan. The Scout Motto is Be Prepared and the Slogan is Do a Good Turn Daily. These two, in my mind, are very important to scouting because every Scout can do these two things everyday.

Helpful: A Scout is helpful when ever and however he can.

Friendly: A Scout is friendly to everyone without judging them first.

Courteous: A Scout is polite to everyone no matter what.

Kind: A Scout is nice to everyone he meets

Obedient: A Scout obeys the law of anywhere he goes.

Cheerful: A Scout is always in a good mood.

Thrifty: A Scout is Smart with his money.

Brave: A Scout always stands up for what he think is right even though it may not what everyone is doing.

Clean: A Scout always has a clean mind and body.

and Reverent: A scout is excepting of all races and religions.

A Scout may not be able to follow these laws all the time, but can do his best to do them everyday.

Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs are mammals and have been around for millions of years. These types of animals live through most of Africa and Southern Europe. They are insectivores, but they will eat a variety of different animal food and plants. They are nocturnal and spend the day sleeping and become active at night time. Their biggest trait are their quills. Quills are sharp, hollow hairs that are used as a defense. When they are frightened they curl up into a ball with its quills extended. Their quills are white with brown and they act as camouflage. The African pygmy hedgehog is the most common hedgehog that gets sold for a pet. It grows to around 6-9 inches long. Four to six years is the life span, but some can live up to ten years. Hedgehogs require a large cage even though its small. Some hedgehogs need to be outside of its cage so they can explore and run around.

The Scout Oath

meritBadgespix

The Scout Oath is like the Scout Law but has its own standards. It is like the Scout Law because it is also what Scouts strive to do everyday or to the best of their abilities. I am just going to break down the Scout Oath so it is easier to understand.

“On my honor”: A Scout is promising

“I will do my best”: To do everything they can

“To do my duty to God and my country”: To do what he thinks is right for God and his country

“and to obey the Scout Law;”: To try to follow all the points of the Scout Law

“To help other people at all times;”: To help other people when ever he can

To keep myself physically strong,” : To stay physically healthy

“mentally awake, and morally straight.”: To stay mentally healthy and stay on the path that he knows is right

The Lynx

The Lynx…

The lynx looks a lot like the bobcat but there are some differences, such as bobcats have shorter tufts on their ears, the tip of their tail is black on top and white underneath, and bobcats have shorter legs and smaller feet than the lynx. Also the lynx stays up high were there are mountains unlike the bobcat who stays in the lower 48 states.

Diet: The lynx is a specialized hunter that target snowshoe hares (which make up most of their diet). Lynx are also known to eat mice, voles, grouse, ptarmigan, red squirrels, and carrion. During the summer, if their food does not digest right they will eat grass to help their stomach digest their food.

Population: Lynx are generally found in the upper 48 states but they are also common down in the lower 48 states as well. They go all over the states that’s why it is so hard to make an accurate estimate about their population.
