Rajon was born on February 22, 1986, in Louisville, Kentucky, to William Sr. and Amber Rondo. He attended Eastern High School. He averaged more than 27 points and seven assists per game as a junior, and led Eastern High to the championship of the Louisville Invitational Tournament.Rondo transferred to Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, where he set school records for assists and led the basketball team to a 38-0 record. Named a 2004 McDonald’s All-American, he enrolled at the University of Kentucky. Then he decided to go to the University of Kentucky he set a school record with 87 steals in his first season and was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. He then decided at the end of his sophomore year to enter the NBA draft. Rondo began his NBA career as the Celtics’ third-string point guard. He played under head coach Doc Rivers. Rondo was given the chance to start regularly in the season’s second half, and played well enough to make the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
