Basketball Boys Update

Well, the Genoa-Hugo Basketball boys are going to Regionals after 8 years of waiting. Every player is excited to make it this far. I talked to Wyatt Vick and Joe Higgins, two of the three team captains, on the boys basketball team. I asked the following questions:

1. Who are you?

Joe: Joe Higgins

Wyatt: Wyatt Vick

2. What was your favorite part of the games?

Joe: Being able to play and watching Trever Thompson miss his dunk. We’ve never made it this far so it’s really exciting.

Wyatt:Beating Edison for the 3rd time this season.

3. Where is your position on the court?

Joe: Guard

Wyatt: Point Guard

4. How do you feel about going to Regionals?

Joe: Excited.

Wyatt: It’s the first time ever for me, I feel really excited and ready to get stuff done.

5.What defining moments do you remember from last week’s games?

Joe: Jason Smith getting a technical.

Wyatt: Key Free throws that Jake McClendon put up to make us go up by 4 in the Edison game, and Cody Hurtado’s deep three to put us up by 1 at the Stratton game.

6. What is your favorite part about going to regionals?

Joe: Finally making it my Senior year.

Wyatt: Going as a team rather than 5 individual players.

7. What did you think when Joe got hurt?

Joe: I felt like I let my team down.

Wyatt: Terrific! (sigh)

8.How did you react when Bryson Herbert fouled out?

Joe: Disappointed.

Wyatt: Felt like we were losing due to reffing and calling being one sided.
